This past weekend, the Formula Regional Americas Championship and the Formula 4 United States Championship had three races each at Wisconsin’s Road America which were littered with incidents and safety cars.
Through all the chaos, the same drivers who were near the top of the standings of both series continued to shine.
In Formula Regional Americas, Callum Hedge of New Zealand completed the weekend sweep for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport by winning all three races. Hedge also passed teammate Ryan Shehan for the lead of the championship.
Meanwhile in Formula 4, there was a total of four green flag laps combined between the three races, the lowest the series has had in any weekend since at least the 2021 season. Canadian Patrick Woods-Toth won the first and last race of the weekend for Crosslink and taking the championship lead while Michael Costello was awarded the race 2 win following a time penalty given to Costello’s teammate Frankie Mossman.
Here are some charts which show some of the key talking points of the weekend in both series.
Formula Regional Americas:

When Callum Hedge won his fourth straight Formula Regional Americas race on Sunday afternoon, it propelled him in front of championship opponent and teammate Ryan Shehan for the first time this season. While they are only separated by four points on the season, Hedge had the upper hand all weekend in Road America. Hedge was the fastest car on the track in both official practice and qualifying. In each of the three races, Hedge built a comfortable gap to take the win.

The absence of TJ Speed Motorsports from Formula Regional Americas this year to focus on the USF Pro Championships has left Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport with little to no opposition as they continue to walk their way to their first constructor’s championship in the series. They currently sit 200 ahead of second place Cameron Racing.
The record for the largest gap in the constructors championship between first and second was 363 points when Global Racing Group won all but two races in 2019. Crosslink have won every race this year. With six of the 18 races down and no competitor in sight, it looks like Crosslink are on for a record-breaking season.
Formula 4 US Championship:

In a series that values track time, it is hard to draw a positive from the large number of incidents that took place throughout the weekend. Ever since the at least beginning of the 2022 season when caution laps began being tracked as a stat in official results, there has not been a single F4 US race weekend which this low of a percentage of green flag laps.
Due to the majority of races two and three taking place under the safety car, half points were awarded for both races.
What does this mean for the series? With a new rule punishing drivers for causing incidents in qualifying and SVRA handing out a four-race suspension to a driver for intentionally causing a collision, there is no doubt the rightsholders to F4 US are looking toward trying to provide more and more strict penalties for being involved in collisions.

Patrick Woods-Toth had a great weekend where he secured two wins. His fifth-place finish did not have much of an impact on his 22-point championship lead given the half-points in races 1 and 2. Woods-Toth has stayed out of the collisions and trouble this season by maintaining a strong pace in qualifying. He only qualified outside of the top-5 in one of six races this season. In that same race at Road America, he impressively rose from eighth on the grid to take his second win of the season.
Keep an eye on the Canadian to potentially strengthen his championship lead after two weekends.

Highlighting one driver who had a great debut weekend, Augusto Soto-Schirripa drove for International Motorsport this weekend and finished 7th in race 2 and 6th in race 3. One of the most consistent drivers of the weekend, Soto-Schirripa was the first driver to appear in F4 US for International Motorsport since June 2022.
