Max Garcia became the first USF2000 driver since IndyCar driver Christian Rasmussen in 2020 to win the first three USF2000 races at the season when he took the checkered flag at Louisiana’s NOLA Motorsports Park on Saturday afternoon.
Driving for Pabst Racing, the 15 year old from Miami moved up to the lead from a starting position of fifth on the opening lap and was able to hold off the field to take the win by 3.3 seconds.
Following Garcia on the podium was Jay Howard Driver Development’s Evagoras Papasavvas, who held off hard-charging polesitter and Exclusive Autosport driver Joey Brienza to cap off the podium.
Rounding out the top five was Garcia’s teammate, Sam Corry, who started alongside Brienza on the front row. Sitting right behind them in fifth was VRD Racing’s Max Taylor. Taylor is doubling up this weekend between USF Juniors, where he finished on the podium earlier today, and USF2000 competition.
Eighteen of the twenty cars finished the race. Exclusive Autosport’s Thomas Schrage retired after complications from running off the circuit in turn 4. DC Autosport’s Cole Kleck also did not finish. VRD Racing’s Nico Christodoulou finished a lap down.
