Frankie Mossman, Liam Sceats and Lochie Hughes are among the 2024 USF Pro 2000 drivers who will be testing in Indy NXT this Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In total, nearly a dozen drivers who have driven in either the USF2000 or USF Pro 2000 series will take to the track in the coming days. Returning drivers will also be present. The 2023 USF Pro 2000 champion, Myles Rowe, will be driving for Abel Motorsports after joining the team in the off-season.

The three drivers who are making their debuts directly from the USF Pro Championships will all be competing for different team. Hughes has already locked up his 2024 Indy NXT seat thanks to cashing in on a scholarship worth over $650,000 after winning the USF Pro 2000 title. He’ll be driving for Andretti Global, who won this year’s Indy NXT driver’s championship with 2022 USF Pro 2000 champion Louis Foster.

Mossman will be driving for Juncos Hollinger Racing, who fully ran a roster of USF Pro Championships alumni in 2024 between Lindsay Brewer and Ricardo Escotto. Mossman has yet to win a race in the ladder series below Indy NXT, but has multiple podium finishes in both Formula 4 United States in 2023 and USF Pro 2000 this year. Mossman finished eighth in the USF Pro 2000 standings in 2024.

Liam Sceats, perhaps most known for winning the New Zealand Grand Prix this past February, is driving for HMD Motorsports this week. By winning that race, Sceats joined Liam Lawson and Shane van Gisbergen as the three Kiwi drivers to win on home soil. In the United States, Sceats was a shining spot of a TJ Speed Motorsports team where he was joined by a rotating cast of five part-time drivers as teammates. Sceats finished fifth in the USF Pro 2000 standings with a lone win at Indianapolis, propelling TJ Speed nearly single-handedly to fourth in the constructors standings.

Other series rookies taking part in the test include the NASCAR Truck Series’ Hailie Deegan, who will run full-time for HMD Motorsports next year. Dennis Hauger, former Red Bull junior driver and Formula 2 race winner, will drive alongside Hughes for Andretti Global. FIA Formula 3’s Tommy Smith will be driving for HMD as well. The rookie field is rounded out by Josh Mason, who drove two races last season for Abel Motorsports and Alexander Koreiba, a prototype driver who also very briefly appeared in Formula 4 United States in 2021.
