Liam McNeilly and G3 Argyros spent last season as teammates in USF Juniors and this year after both taking the leap to USF2000, they led in five of the six sessions in the fall combine test this weekend at the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

McNeilly, still with Jay Howard Driver Development, was the fastest driver in four sessions. Now with Pabst Racing, Argyros led a session of his own and finished in the top-three in four of the six total across Saturday and Sunday.

The sixth session was led by VRD’s Mayer Deonarine, who comes to USF2000 after a successful season where he won races in the Pro 1340 class of Radical Cup North America. Additionally, he got the chance to race in some GB4 Championship races in England earlier in the year, the same open-wheel development series McNeilly finished third in during the 2023 season.

The fastest total time of the weekend went to McNeilly, who set a 1:26.155 in the first session of the day on Sunday. Argyros was the only driver to come within four tenths of matching that time when he set his quickest, a 1:26.369 in the same session.

One driver who showed excellent consistency throughout the weekend was VRD Racing’s Christian Cameron. Cameron, like Argyros and McNeilly, raced in USF Juniors in 2024. In many ways, Cameron’s testing performance this weekend was heavily reminiscent of his 2024 season. The best finishes came at the end. While Cameron sat in the middle-to-rear of the field for the first two sessions, he finished in the top three in each of the last four.

He was only six-hundredths of a second away from being out first-place McNeilly in the second session on Sunday.

Exclusive Autosport’s Jack Jeffers also peeped into the top five in a few sessions. Jeffers is testing in USF2000 after two seasons where he finished third and fifth in the USF Juniors standings. USF Juniors driver and DEForce Racing’s Jeshua Alianell had a top-five finish in a session, as well as Pabst Racing’s Caleb Gafrarar, who previously found success in the Skip Barber Race Series.
