In preparation for her 2025 season in Indy NXT with HMD Motorsports, Hailie Deegan ran a Formula Regional Americas race at the Circuit of the Americas on Friday afternoon and finished 10th out of 15 drivers.
While Deegan came across the line 10th in the unofficial results, due to a transponder issue impacting Ambiado, Deegan may be bumped down to 11th in the official results. This story will be updated to reflect her finishing position if her finishing position changes.
The Formula Regional Americas is a series which drivers such as Kyle Kirkwood, Linus Lundqvist and most recently 2023 champion Callum Hedge have gone through on their way to IndyCar and Indy NXT. Most drivers in Formula Regional Americas are between 18-22 years old and carry 2-3 years of open-wheel racing experience.
Deegan started the race in 11th, 2.839 seconds off the lead. While she lost a few spots on the start as she was shuffled back to 13th in turn 1, she capitalized from her teammate Brady Golan being involved in a lap-5 incident which put him out of the race to move up to 12th. On the restart, Deegan took advance of restart chaos to hop Kevin Janzen and Nico Ambiado to take a top-10 finish and her first point in the series.
Deegan will race one more time in Austin tomorrow at 1:15 p.m. local time/12:15 p.m. Eastern to complete the FR Americas doubleheader at the track.
