Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport’s Titus Sherlock launched off the starting line from pole position and did not look back during the first Formula Regional Americas race of the weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on Friday afternoon.
Sherlock finished ahead of teammate Jett Bowling, who capitalized on a late-race restart to catapult himself onto the podium. Patrick Woods-Toth, who has already wrapped the title, is sitting out this weekend.
The race was green until lap 5, when JENSEN’s Jake Pollack and Toney Driver Development’s Brady Golan both simultaneously had unrelated incidents that led them off-track in sector 1. That one incident cut out nearly 10 minutes of the race. On the restart, Bowling had a great jump which propelled him ahead of IGY6 Motorsports’ Bruno Ribeiro and onto the podium in the two laps of green-flag running
The podium was rounded out by Crosslink’s Cole Kleck who dropped to 4.6 seconds behind the lead after hunting down Sherlock before the safety car. The top five also included Ribeiro and his IGY6 teammate Hayden Bowlsbey.
Additionally, NASCAR truck series driver Hailie Deegan took part in her first-ever open-wheel race ahead of her 2025 move to Indy NXT. Deegan finished 10th and you can learn more about her performance here.
FR Americas will have their final race of the season tomorrow at 1:15 p.m. local time/12:15 p.m. Eastern to complete the FR Americas doubleheader at the track.
