Teddy Musella kicked off the first season of the Ligier JS F4 Series with the series’ first-ever race win. Now, he has its first title as well.
With championship rival Kekai Hauanio starting from the pit lane, Scuderia Buell’s Musella didn’t have much he needed to do to extend his 21.5 point lead into an insurmountable one, but that didn’t stop the Florida native from taking the win, his second-consecutive of the weekend.
Musella scored the race win after moving past teammate Sacha Van’t Pad Bosch following a battle between Van’t Pad Bosch and Escorpioni in the early stages of the race that allowed Musella to pull himself in from third.
Throughout the season, Musella has scored five wins and ten podiums in 13 races. He has shown consistency throughout the year, landing on the podium at least once at every track on the Ligier JS F4 schedule. The highlight of the season might be the first weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park, when Musella finished first or second in every race.
It’s the first season in Ligier JS F4, a series which was created to preserve the Gen-1 Formula 4 cars following the Formula 4 United States Championship’s switch to the next generation. Musella’s title represents incredible growth for his Scuderia Buell team as well, who are on track to finish second in the constructor’s standings after finishing ninth in 2023 F4 US. This is Scuderia Buell’s first national-level driver’s championship.
If Musella chooses to progress to the next level within the F4 ladder, his title ensures he’ll be able to lease a F4 US chassis and engine to compete, a prize package the series values at $186,700.
