With the upcoming Indy NXT and USF Pro Championships season approaching, there are a flurry of storylines up and down the paddock.
And with the time constraints of being a college student (and being a human with a work-life balance) there is no way for any single person to cover every aspect of junior series racing on their own.
With that being said, I wanted to take a minute to highlight some of my favorite writers and content creators who cover the lower levels of American open-wheel racing, whether it be for their technical ability, speed, or their attention to detail in their work. Do yourself a favor and follow them all and their outlets in the lead-up to 2025. All of these people are young, some are more established than others, but they all produce incredible work that I thoroughly enjoy reading or watching.
Michael McClure – Feeder Series
Michael is one of the best feature writers and editors that exist in all of motorsports journalism, even beyond the confines of the lower levels. His knowledge of the sport and his ability to conduct interviews in a way which includes so much context packed into such little words makes him a fantastic journalist. I’m excited that he’s going to be down in St. Petersburg covering USF Pro Championships racing and he’s definitely going to be a person you should follow this week.
Claudio Graf – Young Driver’s Monthly
Claudio is one of the best people to follow in the junior series space because his love and dedication for following along leads him to provide these really in-depth social media updates which are super useful after a race weekend to capturing what happened. He has been doing this for a long-time and it shows because he is fantastic at being so consistent with his coverage in a way that leads to me learning a lot. I’m glad he is active and ready for the 2025 season to cover USF Pro Championships and Indy NXT.
Ida Wood – Formula Scout
Ida is one of the most consistent and prolific journalists in all of junior series racing and they have carved out a name of themselves through their consistency breaking news and recapping races. If you want to see really good race recaps for nearly every race that happens in 2025, feel free to also give Formula Scout a look because she does a great job with getting to the heart of what makes the races seem as interesting as possible.
Archie O’Reilly – DIVEBOMB Motorsport
Archie is a young journalist who, first of all, has an incredible ability of landing awesome interviews for his podcast episodes. He turns out fantastic articles at a rate which is greater than nearly anyone else out there right now and his Indy NXT coverage stands out as being among the best, including those from major outlets. I think he’ll definitely be a guy who will be in the IndyCar or F1 paddock regularly in the future, as he is not only a great writer but also a great storyteller. I really look toward many of the things he does and try to apply them to my own work.
Xiomara Gerardo – Grand Prix Journal
Xiomara is an incredible social media journalist who provided fantastic content throughout the course of Indy NXT Content Days by asking some really insightful questions to drivers. Her page is filled with great content and the inclusion of Indy NXT alongside other major series gives the series a lot of really cool credibility, so definitely give her a follow.
Bruna Cacace (Portuguese-language coverage)
Bruna provided some really fantastic USF Pro Championships video recaps and coverage throughout the course of the 2024 season for fans who speak Portuguese. She provides great coverage of all of the USF series and is also definitely worth a follow on Instagram.
RTD Media
More of an organization than an individual creator, but RTD Media has a group of fantastic young writers, photographers and videographers who all provide excellent coverage to not only their clients as a company but also through distributing press releases for the series as a whole. Check out their website and subscribe to it for news right as it breaks, before many of us often get it!
