Many drivers entered turn 4 throughout the USF2000 season opener on Friday evening, but not quite as many survived.

Jay Howard Driver Development’s Liam McNeilly did however and took a triumphant win on the Streets of St. Petersburg.

Pabst Racing’s Caleb Gafrarar started on pole after a strong qualifying performance put the North Carolina-native ahead of Jay Howard Driver Development’s Liam McNeilly.

When the race began, a full-course caution was brought out on the opening lap for multiple incidents. JHDD’s Brad Majman spun and stalled in turn 1. In turn 4, Majman’s former Ligier JS F4 Series rival and VRD Racing driver Teddy Musella found himself into the wall as well, marking the first victim to have their day ended by the corner.

McNeilly made the pass on Gafrarar for the lead on the ensuing restart.

On lap seven, a second caution came out resulting from a turn 4 incident when DEForce Racing’s Brady Golan collided with the barrier. And on the next restart, Wian Boshoff found himself in the turn 4 wall.

Exclusive Autosport’s Jack Jeffers and DEForce Racing’s Jeshua Alianell rounded out the podium. Evan Cooley grabbed fourth for Exclusive Autosport and G3 Argyros grabbed fifth for Pabst Racing.

Due to a litany of transponder and live timing issues, additional results are not available at this time. This article will be updated at a later hour with more results.
