After a session that saw a red flag bring it to a halt due to separate incidents involving Juan Manuel Correa and Nolan Allaer, HMD Motorsports’ Caio Collet finished up with the quickest time for the second and final Indy NXT practice session of the weekend.
Collet’s 1:10.037 put him only one hundredth of a second ahead of Andretti’s Dennis Hauger at the top of the timesheets and speaks well to Collet’s pace coming off of a win at the circuit in 2024.
Andretti had strong results throughout their four cars with two more, Salvador de Alba (4th, 1:10.336) and Lochie Hughes (6th, 1:10.619) also landing within the top six cars by the end of the session. Between them was one of their allied Andretti Cape entries of Ricardo Escotto, who went fifth fastest with a 1:10.514.
“Obviously the momentum is very good,” Collet said. “The last two races we were in the fight for the win and then at Road America we took the win, I think that I lifted some of the weight off of my back and I’m just trying to execute the best that I can.”
ABEL’s Callum Hedge ran in the top five for the second consecutive session with a third-place finish that put him just over a tenth behind the leaders.
The next Indy NXT session will be qualifying at 1:30 p.m. eastern time today.
