Both of Formula Race Promotions Saturday races at Watkins Glen had last-lap passes which determined class winners as the series battled through a warm Watkins Glen day to settle their first two of five weekend races.
In F1600, Ayrton Cahan, one of the three main championship contestants, took victory over Wesley Gundler on a last-lap pass where the two got past season debutant Timothy Steele to take victory. A similarly exciting finish took place in F2000, where Carter Sheets made a move on Jonathan Farmer to take the race win and the championship lead in the class.
The series will have three more races tomorrow with two F1600 races and one Atlantic/F2000 race. The F1600 race will be streamed live on YouTube at SpeedTour TV.

Sheets stayed within a second of Farmer throughout most of the race and made multiple attempts at the lead through the bus stop and the boot. His luck finally drew on the final lap when he positioned himself at the inside of Farmer and stuck the move to get the win.
It gave him a championship lead after drops over Robert Wright, who finished fifth. Joe Colasacco rounded out the podium on a day where he saw the class win in F1600 Masters and stood on the F2000 podium as well.
