Today’s Formula Race Promotions F1600 race came down to five thousandths of a second, one of the closest finishes of the 2025 season, as Formula Race Promotions (FRP) kicked off their racing action at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

In total, two dozen cars across three series contested today’s races as championship battles in the F1600 and F2000 series continued to take shape. F1600 will have two more races tomorrow and F2000 will race one more time tomorrow, before the series heads off to Summit Point Raceway in two weeks for the championship finale.

F1600:

Gabriel Cahan took his series-leading sixth victory of 2025 by only five thousandths of a second over championship rival Wesley Gundler, closing the gap between himself and his brother Ayrton Cahan at the top of the standings.

Ayrton Cahan battled back from being knocked further in the field after qualifying on pole to take third place. Right behind them, it was a strong run for Chace Supplee, who sits eighth in the championship standings and picked up his best finish since the third race in Pittsburgh in June.

Joe Colasacco, fourth in the F1600 Masters standings, picked up the class victory in F1600 Masters. The championship leader in that class, David Adorno, managed to pick up a top five in class after qualifying on the class pole.

F1600 will race next at 9:50 a.m. tomorrow.

F2000:

Nick Palacio continued his winning ways in the F2000 class as he picked up his second win in as many consecutive starts over championship leader Carter Sheets, who came home in second to build his gap at the front over Robert Wright.

Those three drivers made up the podium with John Dole securing his best F2000 finish of 2025 behind them in fourth position.

F2000 competition will resume with their second qualifying session at 11:05 a.m., followed by a 4:40 p.m. race.

Atlantic – 016 Class:

Qualifying 1:

Race 1:

Richard Zober picked up the Atlantic-016 class win over Bruce Hamilton by a commanding 18.4 second margin to pick up his first victory in that class of 2025 as well as his fifth podium finish of the season.

Zober sits second in the championship standings. R. Bruce Hamilton, with his first appearance in the Atlantic Championship since Road America, secured a second place finish.

The Atlantic Championship will pick back up with their second qualifying session at 11:05 a.m., followed by a 4:40 p.m. race to cap off the weekend.
