With one race weekend remaining in the Formula Race Promotions (FRP) season, the championship battle in the F1600 class will come down to the final group of races at Summit Point Motorsports Park this weekend.

Currently, accounting for the drops in the three lowest-placing finishes of the season, Gabriel Cahan carries an 18-point lead over his brother Ayrton Cahan for the title, with Wesley Gundler sitting in mathematical contention behind them, currently sitting 51 points off of the championship lead after drops.

In fourth place in the F1600 standings is where some history can happen, as David Adorno sits with 375 points after drops, currently 18 points above Cooper Travis for the fourth spot. Adorno, as a driver in the F1600 Masters category, can become the highest-placing Masters driver in the overall standings in series history if he can hold onto his fourth-place finish.

Out of that aforementioned top five: Gabriel Cahan, Gundler, and Travis are all also series rookies in 2025. Chace Supplee, also a rookie, sits in sixth position eight points behind Travis.

Adorno’s lead in the F1600 Masters championship sits at a healthy 61-point lead over 2023 class champion Joe Colasacco.

In F2000, Carter Sheets has built wonderfully on a sophomore season that saw him finish third in the championship as he is fifty points up on Robert Wright going into the final two races of the season. Provided Sheets finishes the two races, it is likely that he will come out on top in the championship. No other driver is mathematically eligible to win the F2000 title, but the fight for third is still up for grabs with Nick Palacio looking to build on his strong form and secure the final championship podium spot after sweeping the previous race weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

In the Atlantic Championship, the Atlantic–016 class is all but sealed with John McAleer set to clinch the title after being last year’s runner-up. McAleer just needs a finish to secure the title.

Brandon Schwarz and Justin di Lucia are your Atlantic-Open and Atlantic JRs class champions, respectively.

On top of the three FRP classes, a cohort of over sixty open-wheel cars across Formula Vee and Formula Enterprises 2 competition will be on the track, including what is expected to be the largest Formula Vee grid nationwide of 2025 as the Challenge Cup Formula Vee Series crowns their 2025 champion.

This weekend’s races will be covered in-person here at USOpenWheelNation.com, and will begin Saturday afternoon. Keep posted to our pages for updates from tomorrow’s practices and interviews throughout the weekend.
